Francesca called to the Bar in 2025 as a Lord Hope Scholar after five years in practice as a solicitor, during which time she worked both in private practice and in-house with the Government Legal Service for Scotland.

In private practice, Francesca specialised in property and planning litigation, acting in a wide range of disputes arising out of the ownership, occupation and development of land.  Whilst in-house with the GLSS, Francesca acted for various government departments and agencies in a broad range of court actions and judicial reviews, including challenges to environmental consenting, immigration and social security decisions.

As a solicitor, Francesca regularly appeared in the Sheriff Courts, First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber) and Sheriff Appeal Court.  She also has experience of litigating in the Court of Session and Lands Tribunal for Scotland, as well as arbitration experience.
