Bookings open for 18th annual World IP Day Conference

26 Mar

REGISTRATION has opened for the annual World Intellectual Property Day Conference, now in its 18th year, which is being hosted by the Faculty of Advocates.

The event will take place on Thursday 23 April 2026 in the Mackenzie Building in Edinburgh.

Each year, World IP Day offers an opportunity to explore the crucial role intellectual property plays in supporting innovation, creativity, and economic growth. This year’s conference brings together leading voices in the field and will once again welcome professionals from across the legal, academic, and business communities.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Maria Lopalco, Head of Technology Transfer at Edinburgh Innovations at the University of Edinburgh. She will discuss the University’s approach to intellectual property, including key considerations in the licensing process and the impact of the IP being generated across its research portfolio.

The conference will be co‑chaired by Roisin Higgins KC, a respected IP law specialist, and Mark Cruickshank, Managing Legal Counsel at RBS.

As in previous years, this free event is open to advocates, solicitors, devils, trainees, students, and all professionals with an interest in intellectual property.

Recognising the importance of professional connection and conversation, the conference will be held in person only, offering attendees the opportunity to network and catch up with colleagues and friends. It will run from 12pm to 1:30pm, followed by lunch provided by Faculty.

Bookings should be made here by Monday 20 April to facilitate catering numbers and questions can be directed to Deans.Secretariat@advocates.org.uk
