New members welcomed at calling ceremony

TWO new members were admitted to the Faculty of Advocates during a calling ceremony today.

Scot Dignan and Amy Hunter were welcomed by the Dean of Faculty, Roddy Dunlop KC, and admitted to the public office of Advocate by Lady Drummond.

Mr Dunlop stressed the importance of the independence of the Scottish Bar, which was a “bulwark against injustice and oppression” and encouraged the new members not to be afraid to challenge accepted norms.

“I am delighted that you have chosen this path in your career, and I wish you every success therein,” he added.
