Tumbling Lassie to mark Anti-Slavery Month
16 Oct

THE Tumbling Lassie Appeal, founded by members of the Faculty of Advocates in 2015, will again mark Anti-Slavery Month during October this year.
It will present its annual seminar, entitled “Reflections on 10 Years of the Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Act 2015” on Thursday, 23 October.
Hosted at the University of Glasgow and kindly sponsored by Pinsent Masons LLP, the event will run from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The seminar will enable attendees to reflect on the progress made since the enactment of the Human Trafficking and Exploitation (Scotland) Act 2015.
Speakers will include Detective Superintendent Steven Bertram of Police Scotland, Joy Gilliespie of Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland, Andy Sirel of JustRight Scotland, and Melissa Rutherford of Rutherford Sheridan – all of whom will participate in a panel discussion chaired by Sheriff Maryam Labaki, chair of the Tumbling Lassie Committee.
Tickets for this hybrid event are free and can be accessed here.
The Tumbling Lassie Ball returns to Prestonfield House in Edinburgh on Saturday, 8 November with a ‘Diamond Ball’ theme. Rox in a Box is back and one lucky winner will go home with a diamond necklace from luxury jewellers Rox!
Following their successful run in Glasgow, Ayrshire’s Theatre Alliance group will perform a medley of hits from their new Tumbling Lassie musical on the night. And, Elaine Johnston, one of Scotland's foremost contemporary artists, will paint in real time and have her unique piece auctioned off live by TV’s Natasha Raskin-Sharp.
Tickets are £95 each. To secure a seat, email tumblinglassie@advocates.org.uk or click here. All proceeds are donated to International Justice Mission and Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland.
