BOOKINGS for the Faculty’s annual World Intellectual Property Day event, which takes place on Friday 29 April this year, are now open.

This year’s event will have a hybrid format, which will allow attendees to choose between attending online via Zoom, or in person at the Mackenzie Building, High Street, Edinburgh.

This year the World Intellectual Property Organisation has suggested a World IP Day theme of 'IP and Youth: Innovating for a Better Future' and speakers at the event will be celebrating IP in practice, creativity and innovation.

This free event will run from 12 noon to 13:30 pm. It is open to all advocates, solicitors, devils, trainees, students and other professionals with an interest in IP. It will be chaired by Roisin Higgins QC, an IP law specialist, and Graeme McWilliams, retired in-house lawyer and former IP manager at Standard Life.

The guest speakers are Dr David Pritchard, Senior Technology Transfer Manager at Edinburgh Innovations, who will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Reflections on Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer and Commercialisation’, and Graeme Di Rollo, Legal Counsel at Trustpilot whose talk is entitled 'Trust in IP: Innovations in Brand Protection'.
