Latest report on taking evidence from child and vulnerable witnesses

16 Jun

A new report – part of the Evidence and Procedure Review on child and vulnerable witnesses – has been published by the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service.

The report looks at Joint Investigative Interviews (JIIs) which are currently carried out by police and social workers with under-16s and are sometimes used as a witness’s evidence in a trial.

It examines why JIIs are not used as evidence as much as they could be, and improvements which might be made, and how they could be extended to other child and vulnerable witnesses.
