Biography
He has appeared in numerous Fatal Accident Inquiries and led the team for the relatives in the Penrose Public Inquiry (2011-2012)
Admitted 1987 - Crown Counsel 1997 -2000- Appointed Queen’s Counsel February 2002
As Junior Counsel an extensive and broad civil practice in reparation, commercial and criminal cases. He appeared for the pursuer in Smith v Bank of Scotland (1997) and the accused in Brown v Stott (2000) and the Crown in Lord Advocates Reference No 1 (2000). After taking silk as well as successfully representing the Crown in numerous high profile criminal appeals he developed a practice in high value reparation, professional negligence and health and safety cases.
Member of Faculty Council 1995 – 1998 and 2014 to date - Director of Ampersand 2007 – 2010; Member of Sheriff Court Rules Council 2002 – 2011. Curator of Advocates Library 2010 -2012; Lecturer in Civil Procedure 2000 -2012
