Biography
Shaun specialises in criminal law, children's referrals and regulatory matters, with particular expertise in sexual offences. Prior to calling, he spent five years as a Procurator Fiscal Depute, conducting trials at all Sheriff Court levels. His three years in the High Court Sexual Offences Unit encompassed complex cases: multiple complainer Moorovs, extensive docket offending and s275 applications. He was the case preparer for the first case considering uncorroborated rapes within s1 DASA charges.
Before joining COPFS, Shaun practised in family law and children's hearings, regularly representing clients in Sheriff Court proceedings. During his traineeship at an international firm, he developed experience in medical negligence, professional liability and regulatory law, including professional disciplinary proceedings and health and safety prosecutions.
Awarded a Lord Hope scholarship, during devilling, he gained valuable experience in public inquiries including the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry and Fatal Accident Inquiries. He tutors Criminal Law and Evidence at Strathclyde University.
