Biography
Ryan Houghton practises in commercial and property litigation, with experience in public law. Before calling he qualified and practised in private practice in rural property and commercial litigation. His experience includes property disputes, title rectification, interdict, debt recovery, insolvency and contentious executry work at Sheriff Court and Court of Session level.
He has a unique background in government at three levels. He has served as an elected member of Aberdeen City Council since 2017 and previously worked in the House of Commons and the Scottish Parliament. This gives him direct working knowledge of administrative decision-making and governance across local, devolved and United Kingdom institutions.
Before entering the law he served for seven years in the Royal Air Force including an operational tour to Afghanistan.
