Biography

Nick has a wide ranging civil practice.

The emphasis is on Contentious Executries,  “disappointed beneficiaries”,   cohabitant claims, Wills (construction, common law “rectification”,  & challenges), and trusts (including variations).

He also has an interest in fiduciary duties, including corporate. 

Nick is Chairman of TrustBar, a Member of the Scottish Law Commission’s Advisory Group on Trust Law (General), a Member of the EU Committee of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (“STEP”), and was on the Scottish Committee of STEP (2009-2014). He is a part-time tutor and occasional lecturer (Private Client) at Glasgow University.

In cost of care disputes, he has acted for care providers, and service users. 

He has experience with pensions disputes, including private, local authority, NHS and other schemes. He contributed to Tolley's Pension Dispute Procedure & Remedies.

He has also been in involved several insolvency, bankruptcy and property disputes. Nick has a particular interest in servitudes.
