Biography

Carolyn called to the Bar in 2026 after a 12-year career as a solicitor.

Prior to calling, she specialised in clinical negligence and was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in that field. She acted in a broad spectrum of clinical negligence claims, including cases involving surgical error, delayed or missed diagnosis, birth injury and failures in primary care. She has substantial experience in high-value and catastrophic claims litigated in the Court of Session, together with lower-value actions in the All-Scotland Sheriff Personal Injury Court.

During devilling, Carolyn expanded her practice beyond clinical negligence, developing expertise in personal injury litigation, including industrial disease claims. She also gained experience in public law matters and Fatal Accident Inquiries.

Carolyn has tutored on the Civil Court Practice course for the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Edinburgh.
