Judicial shadowing scheme launched

21 Aug

ADVOCATES and others interested in pursuing a judicial career are being offered the chance to shadow a senator or a sheriff to learn about the work.

Lord Carloway, the Lord President, has launched the initiative, in which applicants will spend up to three days with a mentor judge.

He said: “I welcome this scheme and hope that it serves to provide an insight into the working lives of a judge or sheriff and demystify what the roles involve. In particular, I hope that it will capture the interest of potential candidates well in advance of the date upon which they might consider applying for judicial office.”
