Biography

Simon Bowie QC has considerable experience of commercial actions, professional negligence claims (including clinical negligence) and personal injury cases.  

The directories describe his practice as “impressive and broad ranging” covering a “wide range of civil and commercial work”; he is “widely recognised for his work on behalf of both clinical institutions and health professionals”.  He is always “very calm, self assured, reasonable.. a very smooth advocate”; and his “ability to grasp vast amounts of information is superb”.   His appointments include : standing junior to the Department for Work and Pensions (2005 to 2008), to the Home Department (2007 to 2008); and Advocate Depute/Crown Counsel from 2008 to 2010.  He took silk in 2009.  Recent cases include the Public Inquiry into the C. diff outbreak at Vale of Leven Hospital; and a very high profile financial provision case which was one of the highest value cases of its type in Scotland.
