Prior to calling to the Bar, Rachel was a solicitor in private practice for 18 years, specialising in family law. She was accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Family Law from 2006 to 2013.
Her practice as a solicitor involved conducting cases both in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court. Her caseload ranged from high value financial provision on divorce matters to childcare law, including adoption matters. Rachel has expertise in public sector childcare law, having acted for many years on behalf of local authorities in freeing for adoption and then permanence order applications. She has conducted a large number of proofs at Sheriff Court and Court of Session level, in relation to financial provision on divorce and in relation to children, including relocation matters. Before commencing devilling, she was ranked in family law in the Chambers Directory.
