Biography

Before calling to the bar Julie was a solicitor in private practice for 20 years. She spent her career at a variety of firms that specialised in personal injury, clinical and professional negligence. She acted predominantly for defenders and insurers. She was latterly head of the Edinburgh office at a specialist insurance practice.

As a solicitor she gained wide ranging experience of personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents, workplace injuries, occupiers’ liability cases and insurance disputes. She developed expertise in complex injury and fatal accident claims. She advised on property damage litigation including cases arising from professional negligence, fires, floods and defective products. She represented a number of private healthcare hospitals and clinics and the professionals practising within them.

As a solicitor Julie she was experienced in appearing in the Sheriff Courts and instructing Counsel for a variety of litigation.
