Public and fatal accident inquiries
Emma’s principal areas of practice are crime, including corporate and regulatory crime, reparation and Fatal Accident Inquiries.
She is regularly instructed in the High Court of Justiciary and the Sheriff Court in a variety of criminal matters, including cases brought under Proceeds of Crime, Road Traffic and Health and Safety legislation. She has considerable experience of jury trials in the High Court of Justiciary and of Fatal Accident Inquiries. She regularly advises in criminal cases involving road traffic fatalities and has been instructed in prosecutions arising from sections 1 and 2B of the Road Traffic Act. She is regularly instructed in reparation actions in the Court of Session, both as sole Counsel and as Junior Counsel to Senior.
Emma has regularly delivered legal training to specialist inspectors within the Health and Safety Executive, both in Scotland and in England. She is a Reporter to Session Cases. She is presently instructed as Junior Counsel in relation to two major group actions currently pending before the Court of Session, both of behalf of multiple pursuers, in relation to PIP breast implant cases and also in relation to the transvaginal mesh litigation.
