Biography

David has extensive experience in representing and advising clients in a wide range of commercial, property and trust and succession litigation. This includes commercial leases, partnership agreements, boundary, real burden and servitudes, interpretation of and challenges to wills and trusts, and trust variation and gratuitous alienations and unfair preferences.


He has acted as arbitrator, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is available for appointment to resolve disputes in all areas of his practice. He has a special interest in arbitration as a means of dispute resolution.


He chairs hearing of the Housing and Property Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland. He is a past Chairman of TrustBar, the Faculty’s specialist group for trust, fiduciary and executry law.
He has co-authored Dundas and Bartos on the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 (second edition) and Bartos and Meston on the Succession (Scotland) Act 1964 (sixth edition).
