Building a sustainable future under the spotlight on World IP Day 2024

 

BOOKINGS are now being taken for the Faculty of Advocates’ 16th annual World Intellectual Property Day Conference. 

The popular lunchtime hybrid event will take place in the Mackenzie Building in Edinburgh and online later this month.  The theme for this year is ‘Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Building our future with innovation and creativity’. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs include Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Good Health and Well-being, Affordable and Clean Energy, and Sustainable Cities and Communities. 

The conference is free to attend and is open to all advocates, solicitors, devils, trainees, students and other professionals with an interest in intellectual property. It will be chaired by Roisin Higgins KC, an IP law specialist, and Graeme McWilliams, retired in-house lawyer and former IP manager at Standard Life. 

The speakers on the day are the British Council’s Director: Culture in Action Stephen Stenning and Philip Hall, Senior Legal Counsel in the Outsourcing, Technology & IP legal team for the NatWest Group in Edinburgh,
