Faculty hosting Hamlyn Lecture by Robin Allen, QC

THE second of this year’s three Hamlyn Lectures will be hosted by the Faculty, and delivered by Robin Allen, QC, Chair of the Equality and Diversity Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales.

Mr Allen addresses Why does equality seem so difficult? Three problems in comparison in the series of lectures in Belfast, Edinburgh and London.

The first talk will examine “The newest problem: Making a fair comparison across all ages” while the Faculty-hosted event, at 6pm on Tuesday, 30 October, will look at “The oldest problem: Establishing equal work”.

The final lecture is titled “The most contentious problem: Comparing rights in conflict”.

The annual lectures on a legal topic date from 1949 and are presented by the Hamlyn Trust, which was established by Emma Hamlyn in memory of her father, William Hamlyn, a solicitor and Justice of the Peace in Torquay, Devon. The object of the Trust is to further knowledge and understanding of the law.
