YOUNG lawyers representing nine countries have descended on Faculty to take part in the 2018 Eurodevils programme.

Parliament House will become the group’s home over the next 12 weeks as they learn about the Scottish Bar and the country’s legal system.

As well as hearing talks from a host of expert speakers, the ten visitors have individual placements with a High Court/ Court of Session judge, and senior and junior counsel.

The Eurodevils programme dates from the 1970s and is organised by the Faculty and the European Lawyers’ Association (ELA).

Ximena Vengoechea, Advocate, who is making her bow as the programme’s co-ordinator, said: “I am delighted that the Faculty continues to support the Eurodevils programme and that we are able to host these impressive young professionals. The programme allows us to showcase the Scottish legal system and strengthen our international links.”

The ten Eurodevils are: Elisabetta Borla and Daniele Dellacasa (both Italy), António de Araújo Costa (Portugal), Else Harting (The Netherlands), Carlos Junco Anós (Spain), Monia Karmass (France), Noemi Mueller (Switzerland), Maria Schmiegelow (Denmark), Jũratė Šlitė (Lithuania) and Filip Vysudil (Slovakia).
