SLCC proposes same £150 annual levy for advocates

The Scottish Legal Complaints Commission is proposing to keep its annual levy for advocates at £150.

The SLCC has published for consultation its draft budget for 2016-17, and a new strategy for the next four years which “is aimed at putting consumer understanding at its heart.”

A proposed levy of £316 for solicitors with more than three years’ experience is up £4 on the current figure. Solicitors in their first three years of practice would pay £158.

The SLCC said: “The underlying calculations are based on the same approach as in previous years but it is proposed that while the general levy increase by 1.3 per cent, those categories which attract fewest complaints will have present levies held for a further 12 months.”

Responses should be submitted by Friday 11 March. Details at https://www.scottishlegalcomplaints.org.uk/consultation.aspx
