Biography

Susan called to the Bar in 2020 as a Lord Hope Scholar.

As a solicitor she had a lengthy career in private practice and local government, undertaking a range of civil litigation in  areas including; family, child, education, employment and housing law. She has conducted cases in the Court of Session, Sheriff Court and various tribunals.

Susan provided regulatory and legal advice to local government committees, including Planning , Licensing, Education, and the Social Work Complaints Committee.

She sat as the Legal Adviser to Renfrew Council and Clackmannanshire Council’s Adoption and Fostering Panel for a number of years.

Susan has provided training across a range of matters including adoption, child protection, housing, and employment.

She is a Curator ad Litem and Reporting Officers in Edinburgh, and was appointed a safeguarder in 2013.

Susan sits as a JP in Edinburgh Sheriff Court and is a member of The Scottish Sentencing Council.
