Biography
Since calling, Russell’s busy tribunal practice includes claims of equal pay, maternity, sex, race, age and disability discrimination, whistleblowing, victimisation, TUPE, status and cases under the Part-time Workers Regulations.
Russell was admitted as an advocate in June 2012. He was previously a solicitor for over 20 years. In the latter half of those years, he worked exclusively in the employment field as partner, heading the Scottish employment team at DLA Piper. His work covered the whole gamut of employment issues including multi-jurisdictional transactions, whistleblowing claims, a-typcial workers, TUPE, team moves and on the removal of high profile senior executives. His clients included household name plcs, government departments, NDPBs, banks, companies, law firms, football clubs, “group employees” and individuals.
He has appeared in the EAT, and in employment cases in the Outer and Inner House and the sheriff court. He has also advised on and acted in enforcing restrictive covenants.
