Paul is regularly instructed in a wide range of matters.  He has a particular focus on professional liability but is also regularly instructed in commercial actions and personal injury claims.

Although predominantly instructed on behalf of defenders, Paul also has experience of pursing both professional liability claims against and personal injury claims.  Paul is instructed in the two "class actions" currently pending before the Court of Session (the Watling Street litigation and the Mesh litigation on behalf of NHS Scotland).  He has appeared before the First-Tier and Upper Tribunal and regularly appears in the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court.
Paul teaches public law at the University of Edinburgh and has been commissioned to write the third edition of Jane Munro's textbook, Public Law, which will be published in autumn 2015.
In February 2015 Paul was appointed as Standing Junior Counsel to the Scottish Government.
