Biography

In 2013 Mark was appointed part-time Chairman of the Police Appeal Tribunal and became a visiting lecturer at the Institute for Judicial & Legal Studies, Port Louis, Mauritius.

Mark Lindsay qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and called to the Bar in 1996. He took Silk in 2011. His practice has been predominantly in commercial and public law. Between 2000 and 2012 he was Standing Junior Counsel to the Home Secretary. He has appeared in the House of Lords/Supreme Court on nine occasions and in the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg on one occasion. In public law, he advises and appears in a wide range of judicial review petitions challenging decisions of various public authorities. He has been instructed in challenges to the legislative competence of Acts of the Scottish Parliament. His commercial experience includes contractual and property disputes, shareholders disputes, directors' fiduciary duties and professional disciplinary and liability.
