Biography
Prior to calling to the Bar in 2021, Mark was in private practice as a Solicitor for over 14 years, latterly as a Partner in a large litigation firm in Glasgow. As a Solicitor, Mark gained considerable experience in civil litigation, specialising in Family Law and Employment Law.
Mark has particular specialism in Child Law proceedings, having conducted well over 100 contentious proofs covering complex and sensitive issues including sexual abuse, non-accidental injury, parental alienation, and convention rights issues. In 2019, Mark was appointed by the Scottish Ministers to the Panel of Safeguarders. He is routinely appointed by Sheriffs and Children’s Hearings to represent the interests of vulnerable children in court proceedings.
In his Employment Law practice, Mark routinely appears before the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal for both Claimants and Respondents. Mark has particular interest in issues concerning discrimination and victimisation under the Equality Act 2010.
