Biography
Joe was a solicitor for 10 years before coming to the Bar in 1995. As an inhouse solicitor at the British Railways Board he had extensive and varied experience in the fields of personal injury, employment, and commercial property. Following his 1995 call, Joe became increasingly concerned with refugee issues and in 2001 founded the Refugee Legal Project at LSA, which he led for 6 years. Upon returning to the Bar in 2007, he extended his involvement in social welfare law to encompass the fields of social security and housing law.
Between 2007 and 2019 Joe was involved in several notable developments in case law in the fields of immigration and social welfare law. Joe recently had to take a three-year career break which acquainted him with issues affecting carers.
In returning to practice Joe has undertaken periods of work shadowing with personal injury and employment law specialists and wishes to return to his roots in those fields of practice as well as areas concerning Social Security matters.
