Biography
As a litigation solicitor for two decades, Jon conducted cases in Sheriff Courts across the Central Belt and Highlands.
As Principal Solicitor of Renfrewshire Law Centre for 11 years, he gained considerable experience in housing law, landlord/tenant rights, disrepair reparation, mortgage law, employment tribunals and Judicial Review. He also advised local charities and small businesses on regulatory compliance and organisational restructuring. He has prepared and presented Sheriff Appeals, and conducted cases in the Employment Tribunal and the First and Upper Tier Tribunals.
Jon served on the steering committee for the 2012 International Conference on Delict (commemorating Donoghue v Stevenson). He was instrumental in setting up the Citizens Advice GRADE Project, representing individuals facing litigation arising from debt. He has also spoken at numerous conferences and training events, taught at the University of the West of Scotland, and taken part in consultations on legislative reform.
