Biography

John called to the Bar in 2021 after 6 years in private practice, primarily as a criminal defence solicitor.

During that time he conducted numerous trials at both solemn and summary level. He also has experience of appearing in the Civil Courts, Children’s Panels and Mental Health Tribunals. He was latterly appointed as a Curator by the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland.

While deviling he built extensively upon his experience in criminal law, including all types of High Court first instance work, as well as Appeal work. He has also gained experience in the areas of personal injury, FAIs, professional liability and arbitration.

He completed his LLB with First Class Honours from the University of Glasgow and was recently appointed as the Coach of the LLM Moot Team at the University of Edinburgh.
