Biography

Janys Scott is top ranked by Chambers Directory and recognised as a leading individual by the Legal 500 in the area of family law.

Janys Scott worked as a solicitor in England and in Scotland before calling to the bar in 1992.  She took silk in 2007.   She has argued two successful appeals to the Supreme Court and appears regularly in the Inner House and the Outer House of the Court of Session and in the sheriff courts. Her interests extend to complex financial provision on divorce and all forms of child law.  She is accredited as a family law arbitrator.  In addition she is the author of the principal text on Education Law in Scotland and has appeared in education law cases.  She is Chair of the Advocates' Family Law Association.  She is also the UK representative on the Family and Succession Committee of the CCBE.
