Biography
Giles’ practice focuses on commercial and administrative law.
Giles was educated at the Universities of Cambridge, Harvard and Edinburgh. Prior to calling to the bar, Giles completed a traineeship with one of Scotland’s leading commercial law firms. There, he gained experience of a wide range of commercial litigation in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court.
Giles has a particular interest in property litigation, and is a tutor in property law at the University of Edinburgh. As a trainee, Giles spent time in the rural conveyancing department, and gained experience of a variety of property matters from small-scale plot purchases to large commercial transactions. Giles also has experience of large-scale compulsory purchase projects.
Giles has developed distinct expertise in the law of prescription and limitation, acquired as the research assistant for the second edition of Johnston, Prescription and Limitation.
Giles also has experience of employment and restrictive covenant litigation.
