Fred Mackintosh is regularly instructed in the High Court of Judiciary Appeal Court and has appeared in the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts across Scotland. 

He has a particular interest in the application of human rights principals to the criminal procedure.  Until 2014 he was a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Centre Professional Legal Studies at the Edinburgh University School of Law.  He continues to lead and teach criminal practice and procedure courses for students at the university and is also the Law Society of Scotland’s examiner for procedure.  Fred studied Geography at the University of Edinburgh.  He trained as a solicitor at Dundas & Wilson CS in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. In 2013 he was appointed as a Fee Paid Judge of the First Tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber).
