Biography

Fergus Whyte is a civil litigator with a varied background and experience in areas including commercial and contractual disputes, media law, privacy and defamation, intellectual property and information technology, and trust law.

Fergus qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand in 2012. He was a judges’ clerk (judicial) assistant) and then a solicitor in private practice. He has appeared in court as both junior and sole counsel in the High Court of New Zealand (equivalent to the Outer House).

Following a LLM at the University of Edinburgh, he completed the Faculty’s examinations in Scots Law before commencing devilling in October 2019. He has acted as a tutor in law at the University of Edinburgh and as a mooting coach. He is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He speaks French and Spanish and has experience in cross-border disputes.
