Biography
Prior to calling to the Scottish Bar in 2021, Emily was a barrister in England and Wales, calling in 2009 and specialising in family law as a tenant of Albion Chambers in Bristol.
Since calling to the Scottish Bar, she has quickly built up a highly regarding family law practice.
She is regularly instructed in matters relating to international child law, including child abduction and relocation and intra-UK matters both in private and public law. She is known for her expertise in cases involving high conflict cases, parental alienation and domestic abuse.
In financial provision cases, she has experience in dealing with complex assets structures, farming families, foreign divorces and parties that hold foreign assets.
Emily has experience in cases relating to adoption and permanence orders, guardianship orders and cases involving complex issues under the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 relating to surrogacy arrangements and artificial insemination.
Emily is a committee member of the Faculty’s Law Reform Committee and the Treasurer of AFLA. She is a contributor to the Family Law Bulletin, an advocacy trainer for Faculty and, she regularly provides lectures and seminars at CPD events.
