Biography
As an Advocate, Steven has developed a substantial defence practice, covering all aspects of the frailty of the human condition. His extensive trial experience includes murder, attempted murder, rape, fraud and forgery, drugs offences, robbery, firearms offences and sexual offences involving children.
A graduate of Edinburgh University, Steven worked as a solicitor with two leading criminal law firms, before being called to the Bar in 2002.
Steven has earned a deserved reputation for his meticulous and thorough approach to case preparation. He has a personable manner, being a confident and effective communicator. This is tempered by his exacting attitude to the legal and forensic skills necessary for the successful presentation of cases in court.
His experience covers both first instance and appellate work in the High Court of Justiciary.
Steven was appointed as full-time Advocate Depute in 2014.
