Biography

Kirsty has a varied civil practice which includes reparation, contentious property, executry, and commercial cases.

However, she has particular expertise in cross-border matters i.e., questions of jurisdiction, choice of law, and recognition of judgments (this being the field in which Kirsty obtained her PhD, and has published, led seminars, and given talks). She is the author of "Conflict of Laws within the UK" (2007), of the 'Court of Session' chapter in "Greens Scottish Lawyer’s Factbook" (looseleaf, 2002 to date), of the ‘Cross-border Jurisdiction’ section in “Scottish Family Law Service” looseleaf (2015), and was a contributor to Wilkinson & Norrie, "The Law Relating to Parent and Child in Scotland" (3rd edn., 2013).

Kirsty was the Advocate Member on the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service Board from 2014 to 2021. She was Clerk of Faculty from 2014 to 2019 (having been Clerk to the Examiners & Depute Clerk of Faculty from 2009 to 2014).”
