Biography
Lord Hamilton, after a judicial career culminating in his holding the office of Lord President of the Court of Session from 2005 to 2012, returned to practice in 2014 for the purpose of accepting appointments as an arbitrator in both domestic and in international arbitrations.
His principal specialty is commercial law-he was the principal commercial judge of the Court of Session for several years-but he is also prepared to arbitrate in other fields. He is a member of FLAGS (Family Law Arbitration Group (Scotland)). He holds various part-time judicial appointments: he is a judge of the Court of Appeal in Botswana and of the Qatar International Court; he is also on the Supplementary Panel of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
