NEWS Following a recent review, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs has confirmed that the Faculty of Advocates' Entry Fees and Matriculation Fees should be subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) at the standard rate.
Therefore, with effect from 1st November 2011, Entry Money of £850 plus VAT is payable immediately before admission, subject to the transitional provisions of Appendix F of the Regulations as to Intrants. This may, however, be paid by instalments of £250 plus VAT per annum, totalling £1,000 plus VAT over a period of 3 years, the first instalment being due on the date of admission to the Faculty.
The Fee for Matriculation is now £150 plus VAT.
