When dealing with clients in the IT business it is important to demonstrate that you are on the same wavelength as them, in terms of understanding that basics of topical issues such as cloud computing, web 2.0, social networking and open source software, and being able to communicate in terms that express this knowledge. This webinar is about getting the balance right and will deal with such topics as:

  • How far does a lawyer need to go to understand that technical subject matter?

  • Sources of background information

  • Sector market intelligence as a legal tool

  • Effective communication with one's client

Speaker: Susan Hall An acknowledged leader in her field, Susan has acted in disputes relating to information technology including mandatory injunction applications to maintain critical system support and multi-million pound disputes relating to hardware and software supplies. She has substantial experience of advising on licensing structures, large-scale development projects, out-sourcing and facilities management and information technology procurement, together with advising upon Internet issues, Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act.

Susan lectures nationally and internationally on areas related to her field. Leading tabloids and M-TV have interviewed her a number of times as a specialist commentator on issues such as data security (relating to the theft of blank passports from a facility in Greater Manchester), precautions against identity theft and the introduction of chip and pin. She regularly contributes specialist commentary for publications ranging from the Guardian and the Spectator to Retail Week and Computer Weekly.
