Course Summary

OBJECTIVES To analyse both the structure and content of construction law in Scotland. To provide a general overview of the construction process from a legal perspective, common law construction contracts and delictual liability and to offer some guidance in relation to standard form contracts and dispute resolution.

PARTICIPANTS This seminar will be of interest to solicitors, construction professionals and first & second year trainees.

Speaker: Graham Jackson is an associate at Thorntons Solicitors in Dundee and an experienced solicitor of the field of Construction Law. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Construction Law; is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; and the author of An Introduction to Construction Law in Scotland (W. Green), which offers an introduction to the field for construction professionals and solicitors new to it. Graham offers practical and sound legal advice to a wide variety of client involved in the construction process including property developers, contractors, sub-contractors, consultants and funders. Graham offers a full range of advice, including dispute resolution and adjudication. He also advises those dealing with construction related commercial property, whether developers, funders, landlords or tenants.
