A Head for Heights
News - date posted 24/06/11
Patrick Layden QC has been abseiling from the Forth Rail Bridge to raise money for VOCAL- the Voice of Carers Across Lothian.
Mr Layden, a member of the Scottish Law Commission since 2008, is also chair of the board of VOCAL, a charity formed and run to provide support for people who care (normally) for a relative.
He was one of about 30 daring fund-raisers who took part in the charity event from the bridge and they hope to raise a total of about £12,500.
Mr Layden, who hopes to raise about £900 personally said: "It occurs to me that I may be the first QC to abseil from the Forth Bridge - unless of course it was a Faculty pastime in the 19th/early 20th century."
For anyone who wishes to find out more about VOCAL, the website is www.vocal.org.uk, and the address for e-contributions to Mr Layden's fund-raising efforts is www.justgiving.com/patjohla.
