Appointment Of Queen's Counsel

Her Majesty the Queen has approved to the appointment of six new Queen's Counsel, on the recommendation of First Minister Alex Salmond.
The new silks are Andrew Bowen, Alastair Duncan, Douglas Fairley, Anna Poole and Sean Smith, who are all practising members of the Faculty of Advocates and Sheriff Principal Craig Scott.
Those appointed were nominated by Lord Gill, the Lord Justice General. With the agreement of Lord Gill, Elaine Noad acted as an observer of the process and provided the First Minster with a separate report on her findings.
Elaine Noad OBE is an independent observer who was asked by the Scottish Government to report on the fairness and objectivity of the process for the appointment of Queen's Counsel in Scotland.
