Sterling, from sterling effort at book sale

A book sale and swish in the Faculty has raised an impressive £500.20 for the Scottish Book Trust.

Held as part of Book Week Scotland, hundreds of paperbacks and hardbacks were donated by members and staff and put on sale in the Laigh Hall over three days.

“There were an overwhelming number of donations, so much so that we have 15 crates of books left and those will be going to charities and good causes,” said Jane Condie, of the Advocates Library, who organised the event.

“It’s been hard work – books are heavy! – but fun, and we raised such a good amount for the cause. I’m grateful to all those who were involved.”

The Scottish Book Trust was delighted, announcing on Twitter: “We're forever in your debt! Thank you so much for this sterling effort.”
