Biography

Usman Tariq specialises in commercial and public law. He has represented clients at all levels of the court system including the UK Supreme Court. He is appointed as a Standing Junior counsel to the UK Government. 

He is instructed in litigation and advisory work across the commercial spectrum. He is ranked as a leading junior counsel in the current editions of the legal directories The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. His practice areas include contractual disputes, intellectual property, insolvency, company law, banking disputes, property law and professional negligence. He regularly appears on behalf of the Advocate General for Scotland in judicial reviews in the Court of Session. 

He is the founder of the Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers’ Association (SEMLA). He is a member of the Scotland leadership group of the Mosaic Network which is a mentoring initiative founded by HRH The Prince of Wales.
