Biography

Stephen has a broad civil practice spanning all aspects of public law and human rights and commercial litigation and arbitration.

He has further experience in employment law, VAT, and European Union law.

Before joining the bar, Stephen spent a year as judicial assistant to Lord Kerr at the Supreme Court and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, where he gained invaluable experience working on both substantive appeals and applications for permission to appeal. As the only member of the Scottish Bar to have served in that role, he is uniquely placed to provide advice and appellate advocacy in cases from the Sheriff Appeal Court onwards.

Stephen also practises as a barrister at Essex Court Chambers in London.
