Details of Professional Practice

Ross practises principally in commercial dispute resolution, including real estate litigation. He appears regularly in the Commercial Court in the Court of Session, as well as in the sheriff courts. He is standing junior counsel to HMRC in Scotland, and appears regularly on behalf of HMRC and the Advocate General for Scotland in the tribunal system as well as in the Court of Session. He has appeared too in the Scottish Land Court and the Election Court; he has given oral evidence to the Scottish Parliament; and he has experience of making applications to the European Court of Human Rights.

He has experience of international arbitrations under the Arbitration Act 1996 and the LCIA rules; as well as of domestic arbitrations and expert determinations under the Scottish Arbitration Rules in the commercial property and agricultural sectors. He has been instructed too in court applications in support of arbitrations (such as s 1 petitions to recover documents for use in arbitration or motions in relation to sists for arbitration).
