Before calling to the Bar in 1997, Pauline Thornton was, for many years, a solicitor in private practice firstly as partner and then sole practitioner in a small firm greatly renowned and respected for its expertise in reparation and personal injury matters. Thereafter she was a partner in a commercial firm, where she specialised in commercial litigation.
On calling to the Bar she developed a keen interest in criminal law, has conducted numerous criminal trials and appears in the Appeal Court. Her interest and involvement in reparation continue. She also advises in relation to a wide range of matters which would fall under the broad heading of civil litigation e.g. contractual disputes, contentious family issues and professional negligence. She appears before Employment and Immigration Tribunals, and is instructed in Fatal Accident Inquiries and Licensing Appeals.
