Matt's current practice is predominantly criminal -financial crime, money laundering, regulatory crime and tribunal work.
Matt qualified as a solicitor in 1990 first practising in corporate work. In 1994 he moved to criminal defence establishing his own successful practice before calling at the bar in 2000.
He’s been instructed in a number of Fatal Accident Inquiries and has been consulted by a number of local authorities. Matt has considerable experience of acting in complex cases. He acted for the Board of Directors in the case of 2 girls who died after absconding from their accommodation in a 9 month FAI in 2012/3. He was also instructed as junior counsel in the case of Her Majestys Advocate –v- Angus Sinclair No.1 ( World’s End Murders). Matt is often instructed as leading counsel with a second junior and has experience of sports and academic tribunal representation.
