Biography
Solicitor to British Railways Board (Scotland) 1986-93. Founded and ran LSA's Refugee Legal Project 2001 - 6.
Publication – ‘Civil Penalties against employers of illegal workers: judicial and extra judicial remedies’ S.L.T. 2012, 17, 99-104. Extensive experience in immigration, asylum, housing and social security, with recent involvement in defending asylum-seekers from criminal charges, representing victims of trafficking, and assisting employers of migrant workers in matters involving suspension and revocation of Tier 2 licences and civil penalties. Currently a director of Renfrewshire Law Centre and a co-ordinator of Glasgow University's
programme 'Immigration and Asylum law and practice: Releasing Expertise, Sharing Knowledge and Realising Rights.' Current focus of interest is 'crimmigration,' the overlap between crime and migration.
