Douglas specialises in employment and commercial litigation.
Following six years with a commercial firm of solicitors, he called in 1999 and took silk in 2012
He has sat as an Employment Judge in both Scotland and England. Between March 2010 and May 2011 he was a full-time Employment Judge in the Edinburgh Office of the Employment Tribunals. He is currently a panel member of the Police Appeal Tribunal.
Between 2011 and 2014 he was a full-time Advocate Depute. From November 2013 he held the position of Senior Advocate Depute.
He has appeared regularly in the Employment Tribunals, the Employment Appeal Tribunal, the Sheriff Court, the Outer and Inner Houses of the Court of Session and the High Court of Justiciary. He has also appeared in the House of Lords and the Supreme Court.
He is a contributor to Court of Session Practice, and co-author of Contempt of Court in Scotland.
